We can save the current line color-type-weight combo but cannot load any except the default. Or am I missing something? I would the ability to quickly switch to my favorite combos, rather than picking from three drop down menus each time.

No. Not at this time, but the plan is to have a set of semantically defined pens, as well as custom user defined pens.
